How Acupuncture Can Improve Health & Wellness in North Yarmouth

Updated: Oct 11, 2021

It’s more evident now than ever that health and wellness are something that shouldn't be overlooked or taken for granted. Our body is like a vehicle which moves us through life to help us fulfill the motivations we desire. Our vehicle needs to stay in tune and in good care in order to prevent short term or long term damages that ultimately inhibits our ability to live and thrive.

How Acupuncture Fits In

As a Chinese medicine doctor, my job is to analyze external symptoms and to ease an internal imbalance by using tiny needles, body work, heat therapy, and/or herbal medicine. When our body is not in balance, it can present externally with symptoms like body pain, indigestion, anxiety, headaches, asthma, allergies, etc. Our body’s are far smarter than the modern medical system has allowed us to believe. Acupuncture works with your body to help it properly adjust to external and internal stressors.

This form of medicine has been circulating the globe for over 3,000 years - proving it’s effectiveness and validity over time. With thousands of years of evidence and investigation, the medicine is supported today by modern biomedical research to further validate its safety and efficacy. The World Health Organization published an extensive review on scientific trials regarding acupuncture’s efficacy and has reported over 31 conditions to be successfully treated by acupuncture including nausea, depression, pain, sprains, TMJ dysfunction, and more (see the infographic below or check out the references at the bottom).

Support in Our Community

I want the community of North Yarmouth, Cumberland, and surrounding towns to know that holistic treatments are close by, to tend to a variety of health needs they may have. I also strive to encourage folks to take health and wellness into their own hands through lifestyle choices.

In southern Maine, we are lucky to have so many available resources within our reach, including beautiful areas to be outdoors, clean air to breath, locally grown food to nourish ourselves, clean water to drink, and friendly communities to engage with. These all positively influence overall health and wellbeing, which in turn can lead to living well longer. My ultimate goal is to empower members in the community in their quest to live healthier lives.
